Four recognized political parties and five independent groups submit their nominations for EPC polls

Four recognized political parties and five independent groups have submitted their nominations for the eastern provincial council election.
  28 independent groups have already made their deposits. Assistant Elections Commissioner of Trincomalee M.M.S.K. Bandara Mapa said two political parties and two independent groups have submitted their nominations in the district.
Batticaloa assistant elections commissioner S. Sudakaran says the Wilver Democratic Front has submitted its nominations. According to assistant elections commissioner of the Ampara district Lakmenda Damayantha Kumara Thennakoon, one political party and three independent groups have already submitted their nominations in the district.
 Accepting of nominations for the eastern provincial council election will end at 12.00 noon on Thursday.  The time period granted to submit deposits would end at 12.noon tomorrow.  The PAFFREL will station foreign and local observers to monitor the elections.
Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress says it will jointly contest with the United National party under the Elephant Logo.
