Government extends state of emergency

The motion for the extension of the state of emergency by one month has been passed in parliament this afternoon by a majority of 59 votes.

76 votes were cast in favour of the motion. The JVP voted in favour of the motion together with the government. The TNA voted against the motion while the UNP abstained from voting.
