New party by NFF strongman Piyasiri Wijenayake

Piyasiri Wijenayake, a leading figure in the newly-registered National Freedom Front, has applied for the registration of yet another political party.
The Elections Commissioner has decided to interview the applicant of the ‘Patriotic National Front’ next week for consideration.
A top official of the NFF said that the move was precautionary, as they could organize themselves properly under the new party, if the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna challenges the legality of the NFF.
According to sources at the Elections Secretariat, eight new parties are presently awaiting registration with the EC.
