Death toll rises 22 in LTTE bomb blast in Katubadda
Death toll of bomb blast at Katubadda , Moratuwa rose to 22 as two of the victims had died at the National Hospital Colombo last night . According to the hospital sources, 38 victims are being treated at Kalubowila hospital including two in the incentive care unit.
LTTE terrorist carried out a cowardly claymore bomb attack targeting a crowded public transport bus plying from Kottawa to Mount Laveniya last morning. The bomb weighing about 5kg believed to be exploded using a remote controlled device.
Meanwhile police sources said 50 suspects arrested in connection with the bomb blast were produced at the courts this morning (June 7). The courts released 49 of them while the other was detained for further inquiries, he added.
Commenting on the investigations of the bomb blast at Polgolla , Kandy , the police said that the LTTE terrorist who had brought the bomb to the bus suspected to be among the dead. One of the two persons died in the second bus bombing carried out by the LTTE terrorist last evening, has not been identified so far. Another suspect who had tried to escape from the bus following the bomb blast was also handed over to the police by the area residents.
