The service of the expatriates is very important for the future development of our country said the Foreign Employment Minister, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, in parliament during the debate speech.

We have to think of their welfare too when they return home after employment abroad. The employment agencies never stick to their word with the payment for the employees. The President has stressed that our people employed abroad should be paid a minimum salary of US $ 250 per month. We should be vigilant about employment agencies earning money and deceiving our youths. The media men should do their part in this regard, he said further.

At the same time a UNP Parliamentarian said he vehemently denounce what the Hela Urumaya parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliya Thera said in a television interview, that Sri Lankan house maids abroad are engaged in prostitution and the females should not be allowed to take up foreign employment.
