Doha. December 8. Another medal hope of Sri Lanka at the 15th Asian Games 2006 shattered as Asian gold medallist Rohan Pradep kumara not been able to qualify to the next round of the men’s 400m event today in the evening.

It was an unexpected blow in the Sri Lankan camp as Rohan only able to finish fourth with a time of 47.91 seconds in the second heat. It was far away from his season’s best 45.68 seconds.

But Prasanna Amarasinghe did not disappoint the Sri Lankan crowd who gathered at the Khalifa stadium to back the Lankans as he qualified himself to the next round by finishing second in his heat with a time of 47.79 seconds.

He also not performed up to his seasons best 46.10 seconds.

Prasanna will have a up hill task as seven athletes who have recorded better timing than him. The finals of the men’s 400m is scheduled to get underway on December 10 at 4.45 local time ( 7.15 Sri Lanka time) and Prasanna will run in lane number 8.
