The Mount Lavinia Magistrate yesterday ordered Wellawatta OIC to appear in court in connection with an anticipatory bail application filed by Western Provincial Councillor, Duminda Silva. The Provincial Councillor has sought bail to prevent him being arrested and detained in connection with the complaint of alleged abduction of actress Anarkali Akarsha.

Additional Magistrate Ms. Dharshika Wimalasiri issued notice on the OIC to appear before court on July 17.

Filling the application Duminda Silva’s counsel, Gaya Jayatillake, stated that a complaint has been made by Ms Anarkali Jayatilake alias Anarkali Akarsha Jayatilake at the Wellawatta police station with regard to an alleged attempt to abduct her on July 3, 2008. Subsequently a magisterial inquiry has been initiated and his client is suspected of committing a non-bailable offence and suspects he would be arrested for this alleged offence.

He sought anticipatory bail on behalf of Duminda Silva and the Additional Magistrate fixed the inquiry for July 17.
